Our Sectors

Ecclesiastical

We have been involved in many ecclesiastical projects over the years, from small Parish Churches and non-conformist Chapels to large Cathedrals. Our specialist ecclesiastical team understands that any decisions made must take into consideration the mission of the Church, its forms of worship and funding, as well as the buildings history, its aesthetics and construction. Our work in this sector is diverse, undertaking anything from quinquennial inspections, budgeting, maintenance, refurbishment, alterations and repairs to new buildings and accommodation projects. Synergy enjoys close working relationships with some of the leading architects in the country. Our specialist team is passionate about their work and the people they work with; together we can help realise the vision of your Church community

Churches

Synergy assists many Parish Churches, Chapels & other non-conformist places of worship with their building projects. The services Synergy offer can be diverse and vary from a simple re-roofing project or the introduction of underfloor heating, to the construction of new extensions to provide additional facilities for the Church and local community.

We understand that many of the projects are funded in part through the generous giving of the congregation and therefore appreciate the importance of accurate cost advice at an early stage and careful control of funds through to completion.

Cathedrals and Churches of historical importance

Synergy has been involved with over 15 of the country’s finest Cathedrals including St Paul’s London, Canterbury, St David’s,  Gloucester,  Lichfield and Wells.  Our relationships with many of them extend to over 20 years.

Additionally we have worked upon a number of Churches of historic and architectural importance including Bath Abbey, Doncaster Minster and St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol.

The projects undertaken are not limited to the repair and conservation of the historic fabric but can extend to improvements to enhance the setting for worship as well as providing facilities for church staff, congregations and visitors.  These include liturgical re-ordering, lighting schemes, toilets, shops, restaurants, education centres, choir schools and offices.  Many of these are to be found within the existing building but others are new build extensions within the historic setting.

A number of these projects are partly funded by external grants and therefore commissions can involve assistance in the preparation of initial grant applications, and subsequent submissions for draw down of grants from donors as the work proceeds.

Ecclesiastical other

There are occasions where Synergy’s experience of working on Cathedrals and Churches goes beyond the places of Worship to other ecclesiastical properties under their ownership. Such buildings include Lambeth Palace, The Bishop’s Palace at Wells and The Shrine to Our Lady of Walsingham.

Synergy brings to these projects the sector experience gained elsewhere within the practice as well as our expertise within the Heritage sector.

Testimonials

"From Start to fininish Synergy oversaw the project with a extremely high level of care and professionalism. They were always available on the phone to deal with questions and problems and regularly on site to inspect the project. I would highly recommend Synergy for any projects in the future and look forward to working with them on any other project that should arise."

Michael Pearce, Church Manager - St Raphael's Catholic Church

"As a Parish we are delighted with the work on our new parish centre and the work that was carried out with great efficiency, good communication and in a harmonious way to blend it with the current presbytery and church. Although living right next door to our building site and that of the land sold for housing development, the disruption was minimal, everything was carried out to minimise disruption for us as we continued to fully operate in St Joseph's Church and the presbytery throughout the project. In my few words at the opening of the new centre I thanked both the quantity surveyor and project manager from "Synergy" who "mentored the Parish through the project, assisted with the engagement of contractors and ensured that the project was completed in a timely and financially secure manner."
