Parmiter’s School Window Replacement

Client: Parmiter's School

Location: Watford

The completion of phase 1 of the window replacement at Parmiter’s School marks a significant milestone in the modernisation of the school’s main teaching building.

The project was made possible following the successful outcome of a Condition Improvement Fund bid, prepared by our education team in collaboration with the school.

Due to the scale of the window replacement, the project has been phased to minimise disruption to school operations.

The completion of phase 1 has addressed a series of issues impacting lessons and has given the building’s façade a new, modern lease of life, enhancing the approach to the school.

Prior to the works, the original single-glazed windows had deteriorated significantly, resulting in persistent water ingress, poor ventilation and inadequate thermal conditions including heat loss and overheating in classrooms.

These issues have now been resolved through the full replacement of the defective window systems with new aluminium-framed, double-glazed windows incorporating solar control glass. In addition, all associated internal and external asbestos-containing panels and fascia boards have been safely removed, eliminating any risk of exposure.

The upgraded building fabric has significantly improved thermal efficiency and internal comfort levels, while also reducing ongoing maintenance requirements and energy consumption.

Phase 2 of the project will focus on completing the remaining elevations to the side and rear of the building, ensuring a consistent standard of performance and appearance across the entire building.
