Duncan joined the practice in 1990 (which was then Bare, Leaning & Bare) and became a Partner of Synergy in 2008. He then took on the strategic role of Managing Partner in 2020.
In 2023 and 2024, Paul Ginger and Declan Gleeson joined Duncan in becoming joint Managing Partners. He has significant experience in the conservation, restoration and refurbishment of historic buildings, ranging from cathedrals, country houses and town houses to humble cottages. He is the retained Quantity Surveyor for St Paul’s Cathedral and his client list also includes National Trust, Bath Abbey and Emily Estate (UK) Ltd to name just a few. He also has undertaken several projects within the education sector.
Duncan lectures on Costs and Contracts for Historic Buildings to students undertaking the Historic Building Conservation course at Bath University and also to the delegates on the RICS Conservation Summer School.
