At Synergy, we continue to work with our specialist sustainability officer Alectro to measure and report our carbon emissions, to ensure that we remain on track against the net zero pathway set previously.
We are delighted that as a result of this year’s reporting and carbon offsets, our Climate Clarity Badge score has improved to an A+. Our badge links to our public online hub that provides data, progress and core reporting on our net zero efforts to date.
We have purchased new carbon credits which, through employee engagement, have been chosen to support the following Gold Standard verified projects which advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:
Gold Standard projects focus on high-integrity carbon credits with strong co-benefits such as sustainable development, health, and community empowerment. We recognise the complexities involved in using carbon offsets but view it as an essential measure to mitigate our environmental impact while we work diligently to implement emission reduction strategies.
This year has also seen our highest level of employee engagement with our sustainability reporting to date, with more of our people than ever taking part. Our emissions per employee remain below target, keeping us firmly on track against our net zero pathway.
Our electronic emissions have reduced this year, supported by a repair-over-replace approach and the donation of old devices to our IT provider, Utilize’s, reuse scheme. Our laptop fleet’s environmental index also reached its highest level on record, reflecting more sustainable choices in the technology we use day to day.
We’ve also seen a positive shift toward train travel over the past year.
This progress marks another step forward and we’re continuing to work closely with Alectro to uncover new ways to reduce our emissions further.
