Positive ‘reaction’ to new labs at Tonbridge School
We are pleased to announce the successful delivery of a project to refurbish two Chemistry Laboratories at Tonbridge School.
The project was designed and specified by our Building Surveyors and managed by our Project Managers. We were involved with this project from inception to completion, preparing detailed design and specifications, gaining building control approval, preparing and issuing the tender package and managing the main contractor whilst works were on site. The project was also overseen by our CDM-C’s.
The refurbishment included stripping out and reconfiguration of the two existing laboratories and the renewing of all finishes and services. The new layout was designed with careful consideration to the client’s brief, which was to provide both practical areas and lecture space within the confines of the existing rooms. As part of the project we were asked to ensure that key fixtures (new laboratory benching and fume cupboards) were specified in keeping with the surrounding rooms, whilst also ensuring a modern teaching environment was maintained.
The works were undertaken over the summer holiday period and delivered in time for the new school term. The laboratories are proving to be a great success for the school and have been well received by both students and staff.
Synergy are proud to have been involved with this project which continues a very happy collaboration with Tonbridge School stretching back to 2005 when Synergy was appointed to project manage the school’s £11.3 million Sports & Media Centre. The firm is working with Tonbridge School and ORMS Architects on the initial projects of a visionary twenty year master-plan.
