The Field Study Centre @ Loseley wins a 2021 Civic Design Award!

Synergy is delighted to announce that the new Field’s Study Centre at Loseley Fields Primary School has won the New Building award in the Education/Community category of the Godalming Trust Civic Design Awards 2021.

The award was presented at the Godalming Trust AGM on Thursday 28th October by the mayor of Godalming.

Synergy’s building surveyors met with the school back in 2018 to discuss the feasibility of refurbishing an existing Portakabin building they had on site.

It was decided that the best economically viable solution would be to demolish the Portakabin and replace it with a new building.

The brand new centre includes a wonderful science lab and a room to be used by the local community with kitchenette and toilet facilities. Within the design, it was important to allow separation between the two for safeguarding reasons.

The school also required a small car park extension, perimeter fencing and the installation of a new pond/wildlife area. The Centre includes a paved external area and canopy on the main elevation facing the playing fields at the school.

Construction involved cavity blockwork external walls with a combination of coloured render and Cedral cladding, powder-coated aluminium windows and doors and an Easi-joist roof structure with a single ply membrane roof.

Works commenced on site in February 2020. The teams worked well to get back on track throughout a difficult year and with only a few weeks onsite lost to lockdowns, the project successfully completed in December 2020.

Synergy provided Building Surveying services on Loseley’s fantastic new Field Study Centre.
