Our Projects: Beechen Cliff School, Fire and Water Damage Reinstatement

Synergy was appointed to provide building surveying and cost consultancy services for the fire and water damage insurance reinstatement works at Beechen Cliff School, an academy in Bath.

The works involved a full strip out and refurbishment of the sports hall and front of house, with improved male and female changing rooms, disabled toilets and storerooms. It involved the installation of a new metal sheet profiled roof, new flooring and redecoration throughout, new internal and external doors, new sports equipment such as cricket nets and basketball hoops and a new windcatcher for internal ventilation along with new lighting and radiant heaters.

Portakabin was involved in the provision of temporary accommodation to provide the school with usable teaching space for the duration of the works. Inside Limited was the main contractor on the scheme with TRS Roofing undertaking the roof replacement.

As the school required the use of the sports hall for exams in May this year, the team opted for speedy construction solutions to meet the fast-paced programme. This included the use of the metal sheet profiled roof replacement with a pre-finished internal finish and a tin-hat for protection against external weather elements. This decision allowed the project team to meet the required deadline whilst providing a high-quality finish to the school’s satisfaction.
