New solar panel installation completes at St John’s Nursery and Primary School

Synergy’s Building Surveying team are supporting the Good Shepherd Trust with their mission to make their school buildings more sustainable whilst combatting rising energy costs.

At St John’s Nursery and Primary School in Dorking, a project involving the installation of 24 kW solar panels on the key stage two building has just been completed.

Last year, the building surveyors also delivered the installation of a new energy-efficient boiler fitted in the school’s well-being centre, and the school has replaced all lights with LED lighting throughout the school.

The school is being used as a ‘blueprint’ in the trust’s sustainability journey, as they hope to roll out these changes to other schools once they have shown to have a positive effect on reducing energy consumption.

In addition, the school has organised an assembly for all pupils to explain the importance of energy saving and how the new system works and is monitored.
