Update to Building Regulations and transitional arrangements
Act now to submit project building regulations applications under transitional arrangements.
The Building Regulations relating to conservation of fuel and power are changing on the 6th April 2014 with an update to ‘Approved Document L’. If you apply for building regulations consent before then and start the work before April 2015, then the current 2010 regulations can still be applied.
We would advise applications to be made now if at all possible for any projects which may start before April 2015. Your project may not be ready to incorporate the significant technical and costly implications which require a 6% uplift in energy conservation performance for residential buildings and 9% for all other buildings.
It is very worthwhile therefore to bring forward an application and get plans submitted to Approved Inspectors or Local Authorities before 6th April 2014.
