£302 million boost for further education colleges to fix leaky roofs and broken windows

Dilapidated buildings at further education colleges across England will be repaired thanks to a £302 million government cash injection announced on 1 April 2025. This initiative is designed to help FE colleges attract and retain learners, thereby bolstering the economy.

The funding, initially announced in the budget in October, marks the first condition allocation for FE colleges in two years. Colleges can utilize this funding for:

  • Capital projects
  • Improving the condition of their estate to address and prevent deterioration

This funding provides FE colleges with the discretion and flexibility to determine how it should be allocated, acknowledging that providers are best positioned to identify their own priorities to enhance the condition and prevent the deterioration of their estate.

The full list of colleges benefiting from this funding can be found here.
