Careers: Structured Training

We are committed to supporting the development of all staff to ensure they reach their potential. We conduct regular reviews with individuals to identify skill gaps or development needs. A range of internal and external learning and development opportunities are made available across the business.

Graduates working towards their professional qualifications are allocated an APC Counsellor and Supervisor to support and guide them through the two years of structured training and help them prepare for the final assessment.

A number of our senior team are RICS assessors and councillors as well as ad-hoc lecturers to the RICS. Across our business a number of our staff have been supported in the advancement of their studies with many successfully gaining post-graduate diplomas.

Tristan Hathaway - SynergyLLP

Synergy has supported me from the outset allowing me to become involved in a variety of projects which have provided invaluable experience in a range of the mandatory and technical APC competencies.

If I am lacking hours spent in a certain APC competency I can speak with my supervisor who will arrange for me to gain more experience in this area.

I have a subscription to an online diary platform. This is a very helpful tool in recording my Diary/CPD and keeping an up-to-date record of progress. It also allows me to record my summary of experience throughout the APC process for levels 1 – 3 of your competencies. I am intending on sitting my final assessment next May.

Emilee Horan - SynergyLLP

I had no previous background working in finance. Synergy offered to assist me by giving me the opportunity to study a Level 2 home study accounting course with Pitman Training. Although I passed the exam, home study was not right for me, but I knew I wanted to continue learning as it was giving me a thorough grounding in my role and allowing me to take on more responsibility. Synergy’s continued support allowed me to complete the AAT level 3 advanced diploma qualification as an evening course, which is an industry renowned accounting qualification, something that I feel I could not have done without Synergy’s backing. I am due to begin the AAT lev-el 4 professional qualification in September, and believe Synergy is fully supportive of my progression and have allowed me to adjust my working times to fit this in as a day time course around my home life.
