Deadline fast approaching – Phase 4 of the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund

On 28 March 2023 the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero announced that they had made up to £17 million available for Phase 4 of the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund.

It is for use by eligible public sector bodies to access skills or expertise to unlock heat decarbonisation on their estate. This includes Schools and Trusts.

Eligible funding applications include engaging specialists and expert advice to provide a strategic heat decarbonisation plan. Please note this is not funding for capital works such as Solar PV panels and LED lighting.

A robust heat decarbonisation plan will put organisations in a strong position to take the next steps in decarbonising, including supporting applications for any future capital grant funding such as the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme which is expected to open in Autumn 2023.

The Application Portal for Phase 4 of the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund will open on Wednesday 26 April 2023 at 2pm.

Applications will be assessed on a first come, first served basis within defined funding caps until all the funding has been fully allocated (which is likely to be within hours of opening).

It is therefore important that applications are prepared and ready for submission in advance of the portal application opening.
